OKLAHOMA CITY -

Oklahoma City police arrested a man who was intoxicated when he accidentally shot himself.

According to police, on Friday, June 13, officers responded to the report of a possible shooting in the 3300 block of S.W. 29th Street. When officers arrived, they found a blood trail that led them to the suspect, 26-year-old Jacob Sparks, who was hiding under a vehicle in the 3400 block of Independence.

Sparks reportedly said he accidentally shot himself while unloading his firearm. He fled the scene to avoid charges because he had been drinking, according to police.

Officers said Sparks smelled of alcohol and he had a slurred speech and red, bloodshot, watery eyes.

Sparks was then arrested on one count of carrying a firearm while under the influence of alcohol.
