Richmond Dominates Energy

Posted: Updated:

Four different players scored for the Richmond Kickers, who defeated the OKC Energy FC 4-1 Friday night in front of a sold-out 3,916 in attendance at Pribil Stadium.

Richmond grabbed the lead 40 seconds into the match when Matthew Delicäte scored on a rebounded shot by the Kickers' George Davis. After Energy FC keeper Jon Kempin blocked Davis's initial shot, the ball bounded to Delicäte who chipped the ball into the net for a 1-0 Kickers advantage.

In the 30th minute, Richmond extended its lead to 2-0 when William Yomby pushed a shot past Kempin after heavy traffic collected in front of the Energy FC net. After several attempts by Oklahoma City to clear the ball, Yomby's shot was knocked away by Kempin, but officials ruled Kempin's save was made beyond the goal line.

During the final minute of first half stoppage time, Richmond grew its lead to 3-0 when Davis maneuvered around Energy FC defender Kevin Ellis near the OKC goal line and found Alex Lee who fired a shot past Kempin at point-blank range.

Energy FC got on the scoreboard in the 81st minute of play when Adda Djeziri sent a free kick from just outside the Richmond penalty box that Kyle Greig headed past Kickers keeper Joe Willis, narrowing Richmond's lead to 3-1.

Richmond took a three-goal lead once again in the 88th minute when, after a miscue in the Energy FC defensive zone, Michael Seaton blasted a close shot past Kempin, making the score 4-1.

Energy FC returns to action Sunday, May 25 in Carson, Calif., against the Los Angeles Galaxy II.
