Posted: Updated:
OKLAHOMA CITY -

They're the head of the class in a school district. A Superintendent has huge responsibilities.

Oklahoma has 527 in all and we're paying every single one of their salaries.

The Oklahoma State Department of Education lists total compensation at more than $52-million last year.

That includes base salary fringe benefits and sometimes extra duties. In some districts, the superintendent may also serve as a principal, counselor or teacher.

Last school year the highest paid superintendent, in Jenks, earned more than $206,000. The lowest paid made $5,000 in Keyes, out in the panhandle.
