OKLAHOMA CITY -

The Oklahoma City Public Schools Board of Education selects its first candidate for superintendent. The school district announced the selection Monday morning.

"The OKCPS Board of Education has selected candidate #1 contingent on the contract negotiations," said Tierney Tinnin, OKCPS Spokesperson. "A formal announcement of the lone candidate will be planned soon."

The position was vacated last year when Superintendent Karl Springer retired on August 30, after five years with the district.
