Edmond police arrested a man accused of trying to hire a hit man to kill his ex-wife and her new boyfriend.

The Edmond woman said she got a text message from an unknown number on March 23, 2014, saying her ex-husband, David Sawyer, was trying to hire someone to kill her.

The tipster told the woman that Sawyer was very upset and wanted her and her boyfriend dead.

Court documents state Sawyer was mad, because he believed his ex-wife's boyfriend was sexually abusing his two kids.

The tipster said he pretended to be a hit man, and Sawyer suggested making it look like a murder-suicide so that the insurance money would go to the children and he would be in control of it.

Sawyer was arrested for solicitation of murder.

Police said he admitted trying to hire a hit man and planned on sharing the insurance money as payment.

Court records also show Sawyer told the fake hit man of his wife's whereabouts saying, "I have the kids with me, they are home alone now...please take care of this."
