NICHOLS HILLS, Oklahoma -

A 4-year-old boy has died after he was accidentally hit by a car driven by his father Tuesday morning in Nichols Hills.

Crews responded to the crash at about 7:30 a.m. Tuesday. According to authorities, the child, later identified as pre-kindergartner Quaid Thomas Dolan, was hit by a car at Christ the King Catholic School in the 1900 block of Elmhurst Avenue in Nichols Hills.

Authorities confirmed that the car was driven by the boy's father.

Police said the boy was hit in front of the jr. high side of the school during drop-off.

Schools officials said a prayer service was held at 9 a.m.

Christ the King Catholic School released the following statement,

"We are sorry to inform you of a tragic accident that occurred this am during junior high carpool. A student in full day PreK ran back to his car and was struck. Sadly, the child did not survive. The family is here at this time. We will be having a prayer service at 9:00 a.m. in Church and need to tell the children, but if you prefer to come and pick up your child, you may do so. We are awaiting Catholic Charities arrival to assist with any counseling and support and will let you know more details as arrangements are made."

Archbishop Paul Coakley, Dr. Cris Carter, superintendent of Catholic schools, and Father Rick Stansberry, pastor of Christ the King Catholic Church also responded to the death of the student. Read the statements here.
