We're two weeks away from deciding who the next Mayor of Oklahoma City will be. The current mayor, Mick Cornett, promises to keep his campaign clean and positive, but his opponents say he's too "chicken" to debate.
There are four men in the running to be the next mayor of Oklahoma City. Three of them showed up Monday night for a debate.
Councilman Dr. Ed Shadid, Phil Hughes, and Joe "Sarge" Nelson were all at the Fairview Baptist Church to discuss several hot topic issues. Noticeably absent from the event was Mayor Mick Cornett, who has previously said he doesn't want to debate because he wants to keep his campaign free of negativity.
Instead, the Mayor is using social media and one-on-one visits with voters to get his message out. The Mayor opposition to a live debate was a big talker Monday night. In fact, one person dressed up in a chicken costume and asked "why won't Mick debate?"
Mick Cornett has been mayor since 2004. Ed Shadid has been on the city council since 2011. The big election is just two weeks away, on March 4.
