Discovery Of Homemade Bomb Prompts Evacuation In Geary

GEARY, Oklahoma -

Several homes were evacuated Monday afternoon in Geary, Oklahoma, after police found a homemade bomb inside one of the homes.

According to police, at about 4:30 p.m., officers located what appeared to be a homemade explosive device at a home in the 500 block of S. Galena. They evacuated that home and several others nearby.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol Bomb Techs responded and determined it was an improvised explosive device. The Bomb Techs were able to defuse the device.

Police have not released any suspect information at this time.

The Geary Police Department, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, Blaine County Sheriff's Office, Geary Fire Department, and City of Geary Maintenance workers responded to the incident.
