A state representative from Edmond has filed a bill calling for a second vote to change Oklahoma's Constitution and ban same-sex marriage.

Republican Rep. Mike Turner told the Tulsa World (http://bit.ly/1eBaOf5 ) that he filed the measure in anticipation of the state's current ban on same-sex marriage being struck down by the courts. He said he thinks it's necessary to give House leadership "an arrow in the quiver" and a vehicle to proceed if the constitutional amendment approved by voters in 2004 is overturned.

U.S. District Judge Terence Kern overturned the ban on Jan. 14, but delayed his ruling pending an appeal -- which has been filed.

Laura Belmonte of The Equality Network called the law unconstitutional and predicts that any effort to bring it back will fail.
