Tulsa police responded to a fatal shooting near Pine and Wheeling early Sunday afternoon. The homicide took place in a small apartment complex in the 1400 block of North Wheeling Avenue, according to police.

Homicide Sergeant Dave Walker said it appears the victim, 33-year-old Michael Lyke, came to the apartment complex to collect money from a man who lives there. They got into an argument, and Lyke reportedly pulled out a gun on resident Deandre Simon.

Walker said the victim is known to police from past murder investigations, Walker said.

He was a witness to the murder of Emily Clark in February 2013. Walker said Lyke shot and killed James Mario Parker in the 5200 block of North Frankfort Place in June 2013.

Simon, 22, shot and killed Lyke with a shotgun, Walker said. An officer at the scene told News On 6 it was a 12-gauge shotgun. Simon then hid the gun behind the apartment complex and officers were able to retrieve it. They said Simon is cooperating.

"Simon will be arrested for possession of a firearm after former conviction of a felony," Walker said in a news release.

The Tulsa County District Attorney's Office will investigate the shooting to decide if any other charges are warranted, police say.

Very distraught family members arrived on scene and spoke to police.
