OKLAHOMA CITY -

Oklahoma City police are investigating a late night shooting near S.W. 44th Street and Walker Avenue.

Investigators say it happened just before midnight Wednesday in what appears to be an attempted car burglary.

The owner of that car saw someone around 11 p.m. trying to break into his car. He chased after the suspect. The suspect then took out a gun and fired it but the bullet hit a bystander, who was watching this all unfold.

The victim was shot in the leg but his condition is unknown at this time. Police spent the evening interviewing witnesses and collecting evidence from the scene.

Police are asking if you were near S.W. 44th and Walker and heard or saw anything which could help in their investigation to call them or Crimestoppers at 405.235.7300.
