Maple School Lockdown Lifted; Suspect In Custody

A lockdown at Maple Public School in Calumet was lifted Tuesday morning after the Oklahoma Highway Patrol captured a suspect west of El Reno.

The lockdown went into effect around 9:15 a.m. as the Geary Police Department, Oklahoma Highway Patrol, and Canadian County Sheriff's Office were searching for the suspect near Interstate 40 and Highway 8.

It's believed this all started when a driver was pulled over. For some reason, the man ran away. 

Investigators didn't believe the suspect had a weapon, but the school was put on lockdown as a precaution.

The suspect was captured around 9:50 a.m.
