Better than expected. That's how analysts describe October unemployment numbers just released.
You'll remember the government closed up shop for 16 days of the month. Believe it or not, hiring actually picked up for the month despite the partial shutdown of the federal government.
The October unemployment report shows the economy added 204,000 jobs, that's much better than analysts expected.
Unemployment did tick up from 7.2 to 7.3 percent, but apparently that's because some of the 400,000 who were furloughed were counted as unemployed.
Speaking at the Port of New Orleans Friday, President Obama said the dysfunction in Washington is what's hurting the economy.
While the job market is looking better for some Americans, many young job seekers are still struggling.
The unemployment rate for 18 to 29 year olds, known as millennial, is nearly 16 percent. And a Pew Research poll shows a third of them are still living with their parents.
