Eastbound lanes of Interstate 40 in Oklahoma City have reopened following a Monday morning collision that caused a large traffic backup.
A semi and an SUV crashed into each other near Morgan Road around 4:30 a.m. Emergency crews arrived quickly and shut down all eastbound lanes while they cleared away the wreckage and investigated the crash.
Traffic was diverted off I-40, but many cars were stuck on the interstate in a massive backup.
Around 7 a.m., the Oklahoma Highway Patrol re-opened the lanes between Council and Morgan Road. Traffic is still moving slowly, and drivers may want to consider taking N.W. 10th Street or Reno Avenue into Oklahoma City.
OHP troopers are still investigating the accident, and it's not known what caused the crash.
