A Tulsa grandmother has been arrested after police found young children living in filth and among "thousands of flies and cockroaches" earlier this week.

Janet Marie Friend, 57, is being held on three complaints of child abuse.

Investigators said she is the primary caregiver of three children -- ages 5,2 and 2 -- who were living in deplorable conditions inside a north-side home.

The children were removed in February because of the filth but were returned in May.

Their parents, Matthew and Angela Prior are also in jail on complaints of child abuse and neglect.

According to a Tulsa Police report, officers saw cockroaches swarming at the front door when they performed a welfare check at the home in the 1200 block of North 76th East Avenue.

Officers said "there was a strong odor of trash, urine, spoiled, rotten food and feces coming from inside" the home.

In every room of the home they found trash, dirty diapers, broken glass, electrical hazards and cockroaches, according to police.
