OKLAHOMA CITY -

An Oklahoma City woman says she feels lucky she wasn't home early Wednesday morning when fire and smoke began spreading through her house.

Around 3:30 a.m., neighbors saw smoke coming from the back of house in the 1400 block of N.E. 26th Street. They called 911 and firefighters arrived within minutes.

Crews quickly put out the flames. They say it appears the fire started in a back bedroom, but they don't know yet what caused it. The woman who lives in the house says she was supposed to be there, but decided to spend the night somewhere else.

It was a busy night for Oklahoma City firefighters. Around midnight Wednesday, they knocked out a fire at a vacant house near S.E. 44th Street and Shields.

No one was hurt in either fire.
