MOORE, Oklahoma -

The process of rebuilding has begun in neighborhoods wiped out by the massive tornado, but there is no forgetting the devastation, destruction and loss of life.

Many homeowners have now been tasked with digging through the piles of rubble that were homes.

On Sunday, a steady stream of people paid their respects to the little boys and girls who died when the tornado made a direct hit on their school. Stuffed animals, wooded crosses and flowers have created a make-shift memorial to the children.

Homeowners who had begun the cleanup process could not help but count their own blessings. Some of the said they were just lucky to be alive.

Complete Story: May 2013 Tornado Outbreak

Ally Fernandez and Coy Nichols lost everything when the tornado took out their entire neighborhood. The overwhelming job of cleaning up was made a little easier through the support shown by complete strangers. Nichols said the outpouring of support had giving him a new hope.

President Obama was also in the neighborhood today. Fernandez and Nichols were pleased he made the trip because it brought attention to the wide-spread need in the communities that were hit by the tornado. Nichols said he would not let pride get in the way of asking for help.
