OKLAHOMA CITY -

Police have arrested two men who are accused of robbing a bank and crashing their car at an apartment complex near Interstate 240 and Western Friday morning. Four schools in the area were put on lockdown due to the incident.

The schools on lockdown were Prairie Queen Elementary, Southern Hills Elementary, Parmelee Elementary and Jefferson Middle School. That lockdown was canceled around 11:30 a.m.

The situation began just after 9:45 a.m. when two robbers walked into the MidFirst Bank. They demanded cash before running out of the bank with the money.

The suspects sped away in a car, but they didn't get far. They pulled into the Los Pueblos Apartments just down the street, and crashed into a tree. They then jumped out of the car and ran.

Police later arrested both suspects, identified as 27-year-old Michael Deon Lewis and 19-year-old Jerry Carlton Lewis, at a home in the 3000 block of N.E. 16th Street. Two other people inside the home, including 21-year-old Edna Huff, were arrested on related charges.

Police believe all four suspects are also connected to five additional bank robberies in the Oklahoma City metro area over the last two months.

In addition to the schools, police also locked down the apartment complex while they searched for the two suspects.
