A metro church was burglarized over the weekend and the main target was the air conditioning unit out back. Oklahoma City Police estimated that damages amounted to $1,500 at the Bread of Life Baptist Church in northeast Oklahoma City.

The burglary was a blow to the small congregation that only sees about 30-45 members each week. The church had just finished remodeling the inside of the building that included a security system. There were no surveillance cameras outside where the A/C unit was located.

"It's just sad that you would come along and take the property from a church like they did and it's not just happening to the bread of life, it's happening all over," said Kelvin Green, a Deacon with the church. "The area, it gets kind of hectic but you know we can't worry about that because we're here to save and reach out and if we pack up and leave because that happened then what are we doing this for?"

Wednesday, the church was left trying to come up with the money to replace the A/C unit out of pocket. Raising at least $1,500 will not be an easy task with only a few dozen in their regular congregation.

No suspect description was available because the burglary happened overnight.
