The event is free and open to the public. It does not require reservations.

Langston Professor Jim Showalter will give a presentation on George Washing Carver, "The Peanut Man," whose birthday is also in January, and what he did to better the lives of all Americans. This presentation takes place at 10:30 a.m. in the Terrace Room in the Crystal Bridge Tropical Conservatory.

Participants can plant a peanut to take home with them. Cost for this activity is $2 per nonmember, and free for members.

The Devon Ice Rink will also extend its hours and will be open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
