ST. LOUIS -
St. Louis Police
released new information in the case of a metro mother whose body was found
Tuesday. Now investigators
say Ebony Jackson died from an apparent gunshot wound to the head.
Police found the
body of 30-year-old Ebony Jackson in the trunk of her car yesterday in a St.
Louis neighborhood. Authorities had
been looking for Jackson since her little boy was found abandoned at an
apartment complex there last week. Now, investigators
are searching for answers in her death.
Authorities say
blunt-force trauma was detected when Jackson's body was found Tuesday.
"Ms. Jackson was
last heard from by family," St. Louis Capt. Michael Sack said. "After that she
went missing."

The search for
Jackson started Friday when her 3-month-old son was found abandoned at a St.
Louis apartment complex. Someone who lived
at the apartments found the baby and called police.
Jackson's family
told investigators she lived in Oklahoma City with the child's father, but was
going to East St. Louis to visit. Police say the
child's father, Craig Prom, went to St. Louis and spoke with investigators
Saturday.
On Tuesday, officers
found Jackson's car with a GPS tracking device. That's when police
found Jackson's decomposed body inside the trunk.
"We're currently
following up on a number of leads at this time," Capt. Sack said.
Jackson's baby,
Donavon Prom, is in state custody in Missouri. Investigators there have ordered
a paternity test, but News 9 is told those results won't be available until at
least Thursday.
At that point, a
judge will decide where to place the child. Jackson's body is
now at the St. Louis County Medical Examiner's office for an autopsy.
