Oklahoma State 58, Purdue 14: By The Numbers

Posted: Updated:
DALLAS -

Oklahoma State was a heavy favorite heading into Tuesday's Heart of Dallas Bowl and didn't disappoint, throttling Purdue 58-14. Here are some numbers that help tell the story:

40 – The number of consecutive games in which the Cowboys have had scoring drives of two minutes or less, which still leads the nation. OSU had five such drives on Tuesday.

5 – It was a big day for the No. 5 in Dallas for the Cowboys. Oklahoma State's defense forced five turnovers, the most takeaways for the Pokes in a game this season. Five receivers hauled in touchdown receptions (Isaiah Anderson, Blake Webb, Charlie Moore, Blake Jackson and Jeremy Seaton) and five players completed passes (Clint Chelf, J.W. Walsh, Josh Stewart, Wes Lunt and Joseph Randle). Also, the five scoring drives of two minutes or less, as seen above.

1 – As in No.1. With today's victory, Oklahoma State now leads the nation in all-time bowl winning percentage with a minimum of 20 played. OSU is 15-8 in bowl appearances. The Cowboys passed USC, which lost to Georgia Tech on Monday. Mike Gundy improves to 5-2 in bowl games as OSU's head coach.

17 – The point spread heading into this lopsided matchup. OSU was favored by more points than any other team in the bowl season and delivered with flying colors.

2008 – Today's 58-14 score marked largest margin of victory in any bowl game since Tulsa's 63-7 thumping of Bowling Green in 2008.

58 – The most points ever scored by a team in a bowl game played at the Cotton Bowl Stadium, surpassing USC's 55 in 1995.

10 – With 56 receiving yards against Purdue, sophomore Josh Stewart is already No. 10 on OSU's career receiving list.

23 – With today's 58-point output, OSU went over the 50-point mark for the fifth time this season and the 23rd(!) time in the Gundy era.

37 – With Daytawion Lowe's 37-yard interception return for a touchdown in the third quarter, it marked the first defensive score for the Pokes since Richetti Jones' fumble recovery touchdown against OU last season.

301 – Career points for outgoing senior kicker Quinn Sharp. He became the fourth-leading scorer in OSU football history. He also finished his career a perfect 27-for-27 on field goals of 30 yards or less.

242 – The number of days until OSU kicks off the 2013 season against Mississippi State in Houston.
