OKLAHOMA CITY -
A
neighborhood targeted by thieves gets hit again overnight, but this time the
car break in leaves the victim missing more than her belongings. She tells News
9 the thieves stole some of her most precious mementos.
Surveillance
cameras on homes and a neighborhood watch in Ranchwood Manor addition in
southwest Oklahoma City did not keep the thieves from breaking into Bittani
Stanfield's car. But she hopes pleading with the thieves will help her get back
what cannot be replaced.
"It's been
really hard. It's been a rough week and then all of this," said Stanfield.
Stanfield
first lost her grandfather, and then all of his pictures.
"It will
make it a lot harder just losing him. We can't even look back at that," she
said.
Tired from
burying her grandfather that day, Stanfield says she didn't suspect a thing
when she parked her car for the night.
"I was just
so upset after the funeral I just left it all in the car and I didn't even
think about it. Made sure the doors were locked but didn't grab the stuff."
When Stanfield
returned she says she found more reasons to cry. All was lost, her wallet, laptop,
camera and most importantly, the cherished mementos of her grandfather.
"I opened
the door and got in and stuff was just ransacked. It had been thrown all over
the car."
The thieves
left behind only a few fingerprints on the car, but Stanfield says investigators
cannot use the prints to help track down her belongings. Now she is asking the
thieves to have a little sympathy.
"Just the
sentimental things in there, just drop it off on my door step."
Stanfield
says she is working with her neighbors to review video from their surveillance
cameras. If you have any information about this crime, call police.
