OKLAHOMA CITY -

An Oklahoma City man who says he was scammed out of thousands of dollars, gets his money back.

The Arthur family is one of many who told News 9 they paid Terrain Design to do some landscaping but never got anything in return.

The Arthur family wanted to take that negative experience and turn it into something positive.

We first met Kenny Arthur last Thursday when he told us he paid Jared Shipley, the owner of Terrain design, a $3500 down payment to do some landscaping on his back yard.

"He never showed up, (I've) been promised several times that he's coming, even told us one time he was pulling into our neighborhood," said Arthur.

A phone call from us and Shipley promised give Arthur his money back in cash. And he did that same day.

"Thanks to News9 we did get our money back," said Arthur.

But the Arthur family decided the landscaping could wait.

"My kids reminded me this is the time of giving so we decided we are going to donate some of the money back to the Food Bank here in Oklahoma City," said Arthur.

"His donation is definitely going to make an impact on our service this holiday season," said Angie Gaines with the Food Bank.

The Arthur's gave a thousand dollars to the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma and during the holiday season Chesapeake is doubling every donation.

"So a thousand dollar donation is going to provide 10,000 meals to hungry Oklahomans this December, which is fantastic, we're really excited about it," said Gains.

As a thank you, the Arthur's got a quick tour of the Food Bank warehouse to see where their money will go: a view they agree is better than landscaping could ever be.

Find out how you can donate to the Regional Food Bank, and the Food For Kids program!

Since our story aired last week, News 9 has been contacted by several other people who say they have also been scammed by Shipley.
