YUKON, Oklahoma -

The popular tradition of dropping change in the red bucket will kickoff on Friday, November 23 at 10 a.m. at the Homeland located at 2400 S. Cornwell in Yukon. Through the Red Kettle campaign, the Salvation Army is able to feed, clothe and care for low-income and homeless adults, children and seniors throughout the year.

"Twenty percent of our annual budget is driven from the generosity of Oklahomans between now and Dec. 24," said Maj. Dan Proctor. "We are launching our campaign in Yukon to thank all metro citizens for coming together to support this worthy cause."

This year's kettle goal is nearly $600,000. Unlike prior years, Proctor said some major retailers did not ring the red kettle prior to Thanksgiving.

To help supplement funds, Proctor is also encouraging Oklahomans to adopt an online kettle.
