Oklahoma City Police arrested a painter working at Chesapeake Energy for allegedly stealing more than $6,500 worth of items intended to raise money for United Way.

Police say Eder Ruben Rodas, 30, was doing contract work at the business on Western near N.W. 63rd Street. Security personnel contacted police when they noticed more than a dozen items – including iPads, iPods, and gift cards – had disappeared. Security determined they'd been stolen sometime between October 17 and October 27. They were part of a giveaway that was scheduled for Halloween. The money raised would go to United Way.

Police tracked some of the gift cards, and discovered they'd been used at stores in the metro. Police contacted those stores and obtained surveillance video at the time the cards were used. They were able to identify Rodas on the video.

Rodas' apartment was also searched, and police recovered the stolen items. They also found several fake IDs. Police arrested Rodas and booked him into the Oklahoma County jail.
