OKLAHOMA CITY -

Police are investigating a homicide after a woman was hit multiple times by gunfire while standing in the front yard of her home Monday night.

According to police, officers responded to the shooting just before 9 p.m. in the 3200 block of N.E. 15th Street in Oklahoma City. Police say 52-year-old Frances Ruth Madison was standing outside by a pickup truck when a vehicle pulled up beside her. Someone inside opened fire on Madison, and then drove away.

Madison was shot several times. Paramedics rushed her to a local hospital. She died just before midnight from her injuries.

Police are questioning witnesses, but they do not have a suspect description yet. However, officers say they are looking for a red SUV that may be connected to the shooting.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call the Homicide Tip Line at (405) 297-1200.
