EDMOND, Oklahoma -

A cancer patient claims there's a thief walking the halls of OU Medical Center Edmond.

Sherri Ellis was diagnosed with fourth-stage lung cancer during a ten-day stay at the hospital back in August. She believes one of the staff members who took care of her also stole a large prescription pill bottle out of her carry bag.

Ellis says that bottle didn't contain pills, it had more than $10,000 worth of jewelry in it.

A hospital spokesperson says Ellis did not properly check her personal items when she was admitted to the hospital, and is not liable.

Ellis calls the experience very frustrating.

"The just didn't look hard enough. Because somebody's guilty. Somebody took that jewelry. I go to them for help and I get robbed," she said.

Ellis filed a formal police report with Edmond Police last Tuesday. The hospital spokesperson says they are doing everything they can to cooperate with that investigation.
