My 2 Cents: Romney's Controversial Comment

Posted: Updated:

Republican Presidential candidate Mitt Romney dealing with the fallout from a comment he made at a private fundraising event that was caught on a cell phone camera apparently.

Some say it's devastating to his campaign, others say it will fade away in the coming days and weeks.

If you haven't heard... Romney said "There are 47 percent of the people who will vote for the president no matter what, who are dependent upon government, who believe that they are victims, who believe the government has a responsibility to care for them,".and he went on to add "my job is not to worry about those people."

Almost immediately after it came out, Mitt Romney said his words were not elegantly stated, but he didn't back off the comments.

Coincidentally, one day after Romney's 47 percent comment was released, today's Gallup poll shows President Obama does have 47 percent of registered voters leaning his way, compared to 46 percent for Romney.

It'll be real interesting to see what the next batch of polls reflect.

There's a long way to go in this campaign, and the 24 hour cable news beast needs fresh meat every day, and Romney's comment will be pushed aside.

But like President Obama's "You didn't build that" misstep.. it'll come back to haunt him from now till November.
