OKLAHOMA CITY -

The U.S. Navy will christen the Joint High Speed Vessel Choctaw County -- which is named for counties located in Oklahoma, Mississippi and Alabama.

The ceremony will be Saturday in Mobile, Ala.

The vessel is a 338 foot-long aluminum catamaran that will provide rapid transportation of troops, military vehicles, supplies and equipment. The JHSV's also have a flight deck for both day and night air vehicle launch and recovery operations.

The ship can also be used in humanitarian operations and for disaster relief.
