BARTLESVILLE, Oklahoma -

A Bartlesville man will find out Thursday evening if a giant pumpkin in his garden is a winner in the Washington County Free Fair's Giant Pumpkin contest.

Tom Rovenstine, who teaches at Central Middle School in Bartlesville, estimates the huge pumpkin weighs somewhere between 800 and 820 pounds.

A check with the OSU Extension Office shows the pumpkin unofficially weighed in at nearly 880 pounds.

Rovenstine entered the pumpkin in the contest sponsored by the Master Gardener Association.  The weigh-in is Thursday evening at the fair.

The Washington County Free Fair is being held this week just west of Dewey Public Schools in Dewey.
