OKLAHOMA CITY -

A convenience store clerk in northwest Oklahoma City managed to thwart an attempted armed robbery with the simple phrase, "I don't think so."

Police say on June 22, a man walked into the T And B Express convenience store at N.W. 32nd Street and Western. The clerk told police she recognized the man because he'd previously been to the store.

The man approached the counter and said to the clerk, "Give me all your money." The clerk refused, simply saying, "I don't think so."

The clerk said the man then pulled out a switchblade-type knife, opened it and said, "I've got a knife. Give me your money and don't call the cops." According to the police report, the clerk once again replied, "I don't think so." At that point, the would-be robber walked out of the store.

The clerk said she saw the man drive away, but she could not give a detailed description of his car. She said he'd been in the store several times in the past, and once told her he attended school at the University of Central Oklahoma. She said he'd even paid for cigarettes with a credit card that featured the UCO logo.

Police have released photos taken by a security camera in the store. The suspect is described is a white male, approximately 25 years old, 6 feet 2 inches tall, and 150 pounds. He had shoulder-length brown hair, and was wearing a white T-shirt.

Anyone who recognizes the suspect should contact Crime Stoppers at (405) 235-7300. Callers can remain anonymous, and may be eligible for a cash reward.
