OKLAHOMA CITY -
Dangerously
high temperatures around the state are prompting serious warnings from area
paramedics.
It's
another day of triple-digit temperatures in the metro and paramedics say two
things are very important if you're going to have to be out in the sun: water
and shade. EMSA says those two things are key components to staying safe in
this weather.
News 9 drove
around the city on Sunday and saw a lot of people trying to stay cool at splash
pads and bodies of water, but that's really not enough. Paramedics say staying
well hydrated is paramount.

In just the
past two weeks EMSA paramedics responded to at least 57 heat emergencies in the
area. Thirty-nine of those patients were so serious they had to be taken to the
hospital.
But those
numbers might not tell the whole story. EMSA paramedics say a lot of times they
get to a sick call, but it turns out to be heat-related. And in this heat, they
say everyone needs to stay alert.
