Last night I talked about governments in California and New York trying to tax soda pop and other sugary drinks because they can lead to obesity. Here's what you had to say.
Joyce from Pawnee first: "If the government finds it necessary to restrict the consumption of unhealthful food... then they should take a strong look at how many millions of dollars of food stamp money are spent on junk food."
Marvin in Moore: "Government is over stepping personal values and boundaries."
Claud says: "Taxes that target a specific group of consumers are not only unfair, but infringe on our constitutional right of freedom of choice.."
From James in Bethany: "..now the soda drinkers get to experience what smokers have been dealing with for three decades."
Tyler in Noble: "Are you kidding me..first we have to buy mandatory health insurance and now we are told what we can drink in sugar drinks.."
Sara in Stillwater: "Now that they've financially forced people to quit smoking, they've found a way to recover the lost tax revenue!"
Zech in Edmond: "This is just wrong, no one should be taxed for treating our sweet tooth."
Finally Rhonda from Newalla: "Government has no right telling what we can drink or eat.
Are they going to tell us what time to go to bed next???"
