Okmulgee Man Dies After Rollover Wreck On U.S. Highway 62

OKMULGEE COUNTY, Oklahoma -

An Okmulgee man was killed after his SUV went off the road and rolled Monday morning.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol said Danny Kennedy, 63, was driving a 2005 Hyundai SUV when he crashed on U.S. Highway 62.

Troopers said Kennedy went off the two-lane highway to the left, then overcorrected and went off the road to the right. The SUV rolled over about two times, before coming to rest on its wheels.

Kennedy was ejected from the vehicle. He was transported to a Tulsa area hospital by helicopter, where he died from head injuries shortly after he arrived.

Troopers said they believe Kennedy was not wearing a seatbelt and that his airbags did not deploy.

The cause of the wreck is still under investigation.
