EUGENE, Oregon -

The University of Oklahoma contingent on the U.S. Olympic team added another member Sunday afternoon.

Brittany Borman joined fellow Sooner Tia Brooks on the U.S. Olympic women's track and field team by taking first place in the javelin throw at the U.S. Track and Field Olympic Trials.

Borman threw 201 feet, 9 inches on her final toss to capture first place, and a ticket to London. Borman, the two-time defending NCAA champion in the javelin throw, was in third place coming into the final round.

"I have always dreamed of being here," Borman said, "and coming here has been such a blessing. My coaching and training has been great and because of it I was more than prepared for today. I am looking forward to going to London."

Borman's throw was nearly seven feet more than her previous personal best.
