Honor Procession, Funeral Service Held For Fallen Jenks Police Officer

JENKS, Oklahoma -

Funeral services for Jenks Police Officer Juan Legaretta took place at 10 a.m. Monday, at Saint Benedict's Church in Broken Arrow.

He was buried at Calvary Cemetery, 91st Street and Harvard Avenue.

People lined the streets in Jenks to pay respects as the funeral procession made its way through town.

Legaretta, 27, died suddenly during a physical fitness test in Oklahoma City where he was applying for a job with the Oklahoma State Bureau of Narcotics.

Police held an honor procession at 6:15 p.m. Sunday, with officers escorting Legaretta's body from Schaudt's Funeral Home in Glenpool to the church in Broken Arrow. The route will led through downtown Jenks on Main Street, where citizens lined the street to pay respects.

Officer Legaretta joined the Jenks Police Department in July of 2011. He was also a veteran of the United States Army where he served in Iraq.
