The Oklahoma City RedHawks were able to muster just five hits against Iowa Cubs pitching, and fell to the Cubs, 7-0 Friday night.

It was the fifth time the RedHawks have been shut out this season, as Iowa avoided the sweep at home.

Jimmy Paredes was once again the star offensively for the RedHawks, collecting two hits and a walk, with one of his hits being a triple.

Josh Vitters went 2-4 with a home run to lead the Iowa offense, which capitalized on the opportunities they had to score runs. The Cubs went 4-5 with runners in scoring position during the game.

The Cubs struck early, getting two runs in the first inning. The first came on an Adrian Cardenas double that scored Alfredo Amezaga from first base. Josh Vitters followed with an RBI single that scored Cardenas.

The score remained the same until the fifth inning when Amezaga singled to center to score Brett Jackson. Iowa tacked on two more runs on a Ty Wright single and a Brett Jackson single to make the score 5-0 Cubs.

Iowa put the punctuation mark on the evening with a Vitters two run home run to left in the bottom of the seventh.

Iowa starting pitcher Rodrigo Lopez got the win for the Cubs, pitching six innings and allowing just three hits. Esmailin Caridad and Alberto Cabrera took care of the last three innings, giving up just two more hits.

OKC starter Paul Clemens took the loss, giving up five runs on eight hits in five and one-third innings.

The RedHawks return home to start a four-game series against Memphis tomorrow night. First pitch will be 7:05 p.m. from Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.
