TULSA, Oklahoma -- The Oklahoma energy industry continues to show signs of growth. The June rig count reveals an increase in the number of active drilling rigs over this same time last year.

According to the Baker Hughes charts, Oklahoma has 190 rigs currently drilling; those numbers are up from 176 rigs in June of 2011.

The Oklahoma energy industry has been responsible for adding more 10,000 jobs in the state since 2009, and Oklahoma ranks 4th in the nation for crude oil production and 5th in the nation for natural gas production, according to the Oklahoma Energy Resources Board.

The energy industry supports one in six jobs in Oklahoma - totaling almost 350,000 people.
