OKLAHOMA CITY -- The city, police and the Thunder are now getting involved with what could turn into major changes on game days down in Bricktown.

Oklahoma City Mayor *Mick Cornett told us he's "very disappointed" after eight people were shot following the Thunder's game five victory over the LA Lakers in the NBA playoffs.

The shots were fired blocks from Chesapeake Energy Arena where an estimated 6 thousand additional fans watched outside in Thunder Alley.

Mayor Cornett tells us he's meeting with Oklahoma City's Police Chief to discuss ways of making Bricktown safer on game nights.

"We might need to make changes on how we police it," says Mayor Cornett.

But the mayor remains of big fan of "Thunder Alley" where an estimated 6,000 gathered to watch the game.

"I don't think it should necessary be persuading us that we shouldn't be having Thunder Alley," says Mayor Cornett about the shooting.

The Thunder released this statement to News 9:

"Our top priority always is to make our games and Thunder Alley safe, fun environments for our fans. We will continue to work closely with law enforcement and the City to review security and crowd control procedures and we stand ready to make any necessary changes to ensure safety," says VP of Corporate Communication Dan Mahoney.

Game 3 of the Thunder's upcoming series with the San Antonio Spurs on Thursday May 31st will be the next opportunity to host "Thunder Alley."
