Investigators say James Sykes picked up Randale Anderson and Sir Demarco Dartnayon Bledsoe on the UCO campus at the Central Park Apartments.
Investigators say Sykes didn't know the two men but believe Sykes left willingly with them.
But as the three men drove North on I-35 the two suspects pulled a gun on the Sykes, robbed and beat him.
"At some point in time, the UCO student was shot in the leg and the car swerved off the road and crashed on the side of the road," said Jessica Brown, a spokesperson with OSBI.
That happened near Stewart and Douglas. The two suspects took off, leaving a badly beaten Sykes inside the car.
A passerby finally found him and called 911. The OSBI was called in to help find the suspects.
"At the beginning we had no idea who these individuals were, so it took us all night until 8:30 in the morning to identify and find those two suspects," said Brown.
Anderson and Bledsoe were finally located at Anderson's dorm at Langston University. Anderson was a current student at the University. Bledsoe was listed on the roster for last year's Langston football team.
