Several burglaries through sub-divisions on the northwest side of Oklahoma City have landed two men behind bars on several felony charges.

Police say the two men weren't working together, but their plan of attack was almost identical. They would search sub-divisions then get in and out of houses with the stolen items quickly. Oklahoma City Police allege the men, Dwane Blonner and Jeremy Smith, are responsible for the burglaries.

Blonner and Smith now face a long list of charges, including first-degree burglary for several break-ins reported in northwest Oklahoma City. A security camera system at one of the targeted houses caught one of the thieves trying to break in.

Police say a few easy changes can prevent you from becoming a victim.

"Whenever you're at home, whether you're going to bed, just sitting and watching TV in your house, lock your doors as if you're not at home. Because there are people out there who will take advantage of that situation, look at it as an opportunity to come into your home and steal from you," said Gary Knight with the OKCPD.

News 9 spoke with several of the victims today who say while they are glad the burglars were caught, but they are still rattled from it. On several occasions, the homeowners actually woke up to find one of the thieves in their home.

Oklahoma City Police say security systems are a good idea to put in your home. Several of the victims said that's what prevented the burglars from getting away with more.
