So much of anti-Americanism in the Middle East is just infuriating, but this headline in the Los Angeles Times burns me up: "Afghans revolted by U.S. troops posing with dead suicide bombers".
Shouldn't that read ‘Afghans revolted by suicide bombers'?
This angers me for several reasons. First, the Afghans don't seem to get these are suicide bombers trying to kill Americans who are there to protect them.
Second, here goes a major media outlet again embarrassing our military by publishing two-year-old pictures.
The Pentagon asked them not to because of the potential backlash against our troops. The LA Times claimed it was part of their vigorous and impartial reporting of the war in Afghanistan. And now that they're out, the military brass is blasting the soldiers on the frontlines for these photos.
Yeah, it was stupid to take the pictures, but I'd rather see the Pentagon going after the Los Angeles Times for exploiting the pictures, and quite frankly, our military doesn't owe the people of Afghanistan any apologies for being glad that suicide bombers who are trying to kill them are dead.
Our troops have enough to be concerned about without having to watch their backs at home.
