OKLAHOMA CITY - A major communications unit that employs more than 600 people at Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma City will be shut down.

According to Senator Jim Inhofe office, the U.S. Air Force notified the senator on Tuesday about eliminating the unit.

Air Force officials are in a closed door meeting in Washington, but are expected to make the official announcement at 4:30 p.m.
