Oklahoma Man Waives Hearing In Missouri Abduction Case

NEWTON COUNTY, Missouri -

A Nowata County man charged in connection with the December 2011 kidnapping and assault of two Joplin, Missouri women has waived his preliminary hearing and has been bound over for trial.

Johnny Ray Davis, 32, was arrested outside a Joplin hospital after the women told Newton County authorities they had been abducted from a Joplin truck stop, taken into Oklahoma, assaulted and then returned to Missouri.

Davis was convicted and served time in an Oklahoma prison in a 1998 rape case out of Craig County.

His next court date is March 5, 2012 in Newton County.
