Panhandle Blizzard Winding Down, Chance Of Snow In Central Oklahoma
OKLAHOMA CITY - The blizzard in the Oklahoma Panhandle is winding down, but wind gusts are still blowing snow and making driving conditions dangerous.
Up to a foot of snow fell in parts of northwest Oklahoma, closing schools and roads Tuesday. The Oklahoma Department of Transportation is urging people to stay off the roads.
News 9 Meteorologist Jed Castles says the good thing about this system is it will not bring the bitterly cold temperatures these types of storms usually do. In fact, temperatures will be a bit warmer Wednesday.
As for central Oklahoma, Jed says the metro will see some rain Tuesday that could turn into light snow in the afternoon. The wind will also kick up. There may be gusts up to 35 mph, and the wind chill could be in the teens or low 20s.
