TULSA, Oklahoma -

Tulsa Police identify a woman whose body was found near an East Tulsa highway. The gruesome discovery was made before six this morning on 31st Street just off the Creek Turnpike.

Police say not many people drive by this ditch.

"It's kind of off the beaten path. It's a rural location," said Sergeant Tim Lewandowski of the Tulsa Police Department.

It was in this secluded spot where, in front of the abandoned back seat of a car, officers say Tasha Knox's body was found, lying face down.

"A Wagoner County deputy was on patrol in the area and he discovered the body," Lewandowski said. "It appeared it had been here awhile. Had some frost on it."

The Medical Examiner says there's no sign of any trauma to the body, but there is evidence of recent drug use.

"She had a tattoo on the lower part of her back with some names surrounding it," Lewandowski said.

It was the one clue officers had to go on, and once they released it, they received several tips identifying Knox.

Police want to know who left her in this field, and whether she was even dead when they dumped her.

"You have to backtrack, where they were at, what they were doing," Lewandowski said.

Officers also aren't sure if the back seat is related to Knox's death, but they're taking it in as evidence, hoping to shed some light on this mysterious death.

Police also say Knox's van is missing. They're hoping you can help track it down. It's a 1999 Dark Green Plymouth Voyager with the Oklahoma tag 3-7-3 D-D-P.
