OKLAHOMA CITY -- After getting knocked out in the quarterfinal round a year ago by Metro Christian, the Anadarko Warriors and star running back Sheldon Wilson finally got a chance to hoist the Gold Ball after a 35-18 win over Cascia Hall.

"It feels great," Wilson said. "We didn't come up short this year and it just feels great."

Wilson once again was the top-performing running back in the state, rushing for 3,335 yards and setting a state record for both rushing touchdowns (57 TDs) and total touchdowns (64 TDs). That production has filled his teammates with confidence in his skills.

"Every time I hand him the ball I feel like he's going to break a big one," quarterback Tyler Melton said. "Most of the time he breaks it. He's been great for this team."

Even though the opposing teams know Wilson would get the ball in each of his games, Wilson amassed 7,774 yards and 124 touchdowns in his career and his breakaway ability is what his coaches credit and claims puts him among the top backs in the state.

"Every time we play a football game with him, everyone knows he's getting the ball and he has like 7,800 yards in his career. Any time get out in open grass it's over," coach Kent Jackson said. "I know he's gotten a lot of publicity, but he hasn't gotten enough. I think he's the best player in the state of Oklahoma."
