UPDATE: Oklahoma City Police now say the woman's death is not a confirmed homicide.

Detectives are waiting for the State Medical Examiner's Office to determine her cause of death.

Police have not been able to identify the woman yet.

OKLAHOMA CITY -- A northeast Oklahoma City man and his grandmother discover a body while checking on her home near northeast 50th and Anderson Rd. Wednesday.

When Lorenzo Edwards and his grandmother drove up, he thought the body was a mannequin at first until he noticed flies. He called OKC police shortly after noon.

"Obviously our patrolling officers called homicide investigators who are trying to determine what happened and what took place and who this female is," said Sgt. Jennifer Wardlow.

Homeowners nearby didn't seem surprised. Edwards said they often find dead animals and trash dumped in the wooded area behind the abandoned home.

After finding the body, he is glad his grandmother is safe.

"She doesn't stay here anymore. Her house was burned down at the first of the year and ever since then we have been dealing with a bunch of vandalizing and now this," Edwards said.

It's something police are being tight lipped about but apparently this mystery woman suffered.

"From what I was told, her face was beat up," Edwards said.
