OKLAHOMA CITY — As predicted, a loss of two of the country's top five teams resulted in a shakeup of this week's AP and USA Today Coaches Polls. Oklahoma is now the No. 9 team in the Coaches Poll and No. 11 in the AP while Oklahoma State moved up to No. 4 in the Coaches Poll and is up to No. 3 in the AP poll.

After spending the first eight weeks atop the Coaches Poll, the Sooners (6-1, 3-1) dropped eight spots to No. 9 after a less than impressive performance Saturday against unranked Texas Tech.

Oklahoma State's No. 3 AP ranking matches the highest mark in school history as the Pokes were also No. 3 in 1984. The Cowboy's road win over the Missouri Tigers means the Cowboys are one of the nation's eight unbeaten teams through the first eight weeks.

Despite what many analysts forecast to be an upset by Missouri, the Cowboys (7-0, 4-0) went to Columbia and took care of business, especially on the defensive side of the ball and came away with a 45-24 win over the Tigers.

After more than an hour and a half rain delay the previously No. 1 ranked Sooners finally took the field, but never seemed to get their offensive rhythm going. OU trailed 24-7 at the half and despite a comeback attempt, the Sooners 39-game winning streak was broken as the Red Raiders came out on top 41-38. Texas Tech is now No. 19 in the AP Poll and the No. 22 team in the Coaches Poll.

LSU is the new No. 1 team in the Coaches Poll after receiving 41 first place votes and 1,457 points while Alabama came in second with 18 first place ballots and 1, 434 points. Stanford came in third while Boise State moved up from No. 7 to the fifth spot just behind Oklahoma State.

In the AP poll, LSU is also the top team followed by Alabama, Oklahoma State, Stanford and Boise State.

The other top-five team that lost and added to the poll shakeup was Wisconsin who is now No. 11 in the Coaches Poll and No. 12 in the AP Poll.

The previously No. 6 ranked team in the BCS standings, and No.4 team in the Coaches and AP Polls last week, fell to No. 12 in the AP and No. 11 in the Coaches poll after a 37-31 loss to Michigan State. On the final play of that game, former OU quarterback Keith Nichol who transferred after being beat out by Sam Bradford for the starting spot, caught a Hail Mary pass and fought his way to the end zone for the winning score.

Other Big 12 teams in the polls this week include:
Coaches Poll: No. 12-Kansas State, No. 16-Texas A&M, No. 22-Texas Tech
AP Poll: No. 10-Kansas State, No. 16-Texas A&M, No. 19-Texas Tech

Oklahoma State will host Baylor this week with a 2:30 p.m. matchup in Stillwater on Oct. 29 while the Sooners hit the road to play unbeaten and No. 12 ranked Kansas State at 2:30 p.m. in Manhattan.
